Meet Matt
Hi, I’m Matt Cuoco, founder of The Bar Standard. I entered the restaurant industry at 18 and spent the next eight years learning every side of the business. I worked as a dishwasher, line cook, host, busser, server, bartender, and manager. Along the way, I built lasting relationships with coworkers, managers, owners, and, most importantly, customers who became friends. Those experiences taught me that hospitality is about more than serving food or making drinks. Hospitality is about connection.

After leaving the restaurant industry, I realized how much I missed that world. When friends asked me to bartend a private party, I found a new way to reconnect with what I loved. That experience became the beginning of The Bar Standard.
The name reflects how I approach both work and life. I was raised to believe that the bare minimum is never good enough. When someone trusts you to do a job, you should do it to the absolute best of your ability. That is the standard I hold myself and my business to: genuine hospitality, thoughtful preparation, and service that goes beyond what is expected.
